Coastguard rescues snorkeler

Local | By Correspondent August 7, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - Tuesday afternoon, August 6, at 5:48 PM, the Coast Guard's Rescue & Coordination Center (RCC) received a phone call from the Police Station informing them that a person who had been snorkeling near Cas Abou had not returned.

It concerned a Dutchman of 41 years. He had gotten stuck on a rock but because of the rough sea, he was unable to swim back. Upon arrival of the police at Cas Abou, assistance was immediately requested from a Coast Guard Metal Shark. The RCC has called for a team to provide assistance. The Metal Shark team managed to get close to the rock and get the man on their boat and bring him back to his family and the police. The man did not need medical care.
