Code yellow for rough sea coastal areas Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent August 24, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The Meteorological Service Curaçao (Meteo) issued a code yellow on Tuesday for rough seas near the northern and eastern coastal areas of the island.

The swell and strong winds can cause rough seas on the coast. The service warns that the waves could cause possible damage to small boats and beach tents. Wave heights between 2.5 and 3 meters are expected.

Seafarers with small vessels going to sail are requested to exercise caution. Swimmers are advised to stay close to shore.

The tropical wave that moves over the island will cause more clouds and showers in the coming days. The weather service reports that the rain showers could be accompanied by strong gusts of wind. There is also a chance of severe thunderstorms.
