WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao wants to start vaccinating the population against corona on Wednesday, February 24. The government announced this on Thursday.
At the same time, there is fear among the government about the number of people who actually want to be vaccinated. Amparo dos Santos, leader of the opposition party Kòrsou di Nos Tur, advised the population this week not to get vaccinated. According to the party leader, it is better to drink water with lemon and take asprine.
Health Minister Zita Jesus-Leito called that statement "very irresponsible" on Thursday. According to her, Curaçao wants to vaccinate as many citizens as possible.
As is known, it starts with people in their 60s and people working in the healthcare sector. According to the minister, there is a lot of fear on the island about the vaccination. Jesus-Leito wants to dissipate that fear through information sessions in the coming period.
