WILLEMSTAD - John Loth, director of Rectour Corporation, the former operator of the Campo Alegre brothel, has been sentenced to 180 hours of community service. The sentence can still be commuted to ninety days in prison if the community service is not properly performed.
Loth is charged with human trafficking, vandalism, and fraudulent bankruptcy. The court ruled that insufficient convincing evidence had been found for the allegations. Still, Loth was unable to provide the appropriate documents to be fully acquitted of bankruptcy. The former Campo director himself stated that when acquiring his shares, the administration was on a malfunctioning server that he was unable to view himself.
The judgment does mention deception and exploitation of prostitution activities. Several women stayed in Campo Alegre on a temporary residence permit of three months but were unable to work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the 'house rules', they should not leave the site.
