WILLEMSTAD - The payment of 1750 guilders in compensation for civil servants is in doubt. Governor Lucille George-Wout has not yet signed the National Decree to that effect. Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas announced this on Friday during a meeting of Parliament.
According to Pisas, the governor has sent several questions to the government. The community and social media reacted with outrage at the proposal to pay civil servants an incentive bonus of 1750 guilders gross at the end of June.
According to Pisas, the government wants to do something in return for the civil servants who had to hand in 12.5 percent of their salary during the corona period. The government would now like to phase out this discount but encountered additional conditions from the Dutch government.
The payment of 1750 guilders per civil servant would cost the community 10.6 million guilders. Pisas says that this amount is covered by the budget. The government is awaiting advice on this from the Financial Supervision Board.
