WILLEMSTAD - Up to 31st December interested parties could submit an application at Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post (BT&P) in connection with the proposed granting of the concession for mobile telecommunications in Curaçao. Three parties have submitted their application and BT&P is currently starting their evaluation.
Due to the lifting of the moratorium on the issuance of concessions for building, maintaining and commercializing a telecommunications infrastructure, BT&P, upon assignment of the minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, started an application and selection procedure on 21st October for the granting of a concession. The initiation of this procedure is intended to pursue an optimal contribution to the market development with regard to mobile telecommunications, while at the same time to stimulate innovation and connection with the latest technologies and standards.
The evaluation by BT&P will therefore be focused on various technical, financial-economic and administrative aspects. BT&P aims to conclude its evaluation within a period of two (2) to three (3) months and will provide advice to the minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning accordingly.
