WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao parliament met in a public meeting yesterday. This was possible because MFK parliamentarian Jacinta Constancia had registered for the meeting. In the past period, the opposition refused to cooperate in order to reach the desired quorum of eleven Members of Parliament.
Constancia herself said she had not turned up earlier due to illness and a death in her family. As far as she was concerned, there was no boycott. The coalition was very pleased with the Constancia’s participation and hopes this week to be able to submit the credentials of Emmilou Capriles as a new parliamentarian for the PAR.
Since Jeser El Ayoubi surrendered his seat in December, the coalition no longer has a majority in parliament. Capriles was eleventh on the PAR candidate list in 2017. She is no longer on the new candidate list.
