WILLEMSTAD - Production in all sectors of the economy declined in the third quarter of 2020, except in the construction sector.
In fact, more private investment was seen in that sector. This is according to the president of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten, Richard Doornbosch, in the bank's latest quarterly report.
The figures show that in the third quarter of 2020, the corona pandemic also had a major impact on the economic activities in the monetary union of Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
It is true that measures were relaxed during that period, but the gross domestic product shrank considerably.
On Curaçao it was a contraction of more than twenty percent and on Sint maarten a contraction of almost 30 percent.
