Cooper files a complaint against construction of pier

Local | By Correspondent August 1, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper has filed a complaint against 2B Holidays, the company behind Scuba Lodge, for the construction of a pier in Pietermaai. Cooper made the announcement on his Facebook page.

According to Cooper, the construction work is completely different from what the permit was issued for. 2B Holidays would have been guilty of theft of domain land and violation of the license conditions. The minister considers the damage enormous and therefore demands a maximum prison sentence of four years or a fine of up to one million guilders.

According to Cooper, further investigation should show how great the damage to the marine environment actually is. The Public Prosecution Service will now determine whether to prosecute.
