WILLEMSTAD - The category 1 status of Curaçao airport remains a long way off for the time being. According to Charles Cooper, the big problem is money. The Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning says he needs at least 1.3 million guilders each year to obtain the coveted FAA status.
He has asked parliament to make room for this in its budget. With that money, nine additional staff would have to be hired.
Now there are eighteen people working, but that is not enough.
