Cooper wants better internet protocol

Local | By Correspondent July 26, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper wants a new internet protocol on Curaçao. The IPv4 type must make way for the successor IPv6.

According to Cooper, the internet speed on the island can be increased with a new protocol and this also contributes to the security of the connection. Hackers can be traced more easily when using IPv6.

According to the minister, the use of IPv6 in Curaçao is far behind compared to other areas. In Curaçao, the new protocol is used in 0.44 percent of the cases, while in French Guyana this is already the case in 45 percent.
