WILLEMSTAD – Airline Corendon has cancelled its scheduled flight from Amsterdam to Curaçao due to the escalating situation in Venezuela and the closure of the airspace around Curaçao. The cancellation concerns flight CD5989, which was due to depart today.
According to Corendon, all affected passengers will receive a full refund of their ticket price. The tour operator said it is in the process of informing all travelers about the cancellation.
For passengers booked on the return flight CD5990 from Curaçao to Amsterdam, also scheduled for January 3, Corendon is arranging accommodation on the island. The airline stated that it aims to transport passengers to their final destinations as soon as conditions allow and flights can safely resume.
Corendon said it is closely monitoring developments and remains in consultation with all relevant authorities. A new update is expected later today at 12:00 p.m. Curaçao time, which corresponds to 5:00 p.m. in the Netherlands.
The cancellation follows similar decisions by other airlines operating in the region, as airspace restrictions continue to disrupt travel to and from the southern Caribbean.
