Corona patients from Bonaire brought to Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent March 22, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The number of corona infections in Curaçao has risen alarmingly in recent days. 1,149 active infections were registered on Sunday. A week earlier there were 324 cases, the week before this was 97 cases. The rapid increase is mainly due to the presence of the British variant, according to the epidemiology department.

There are currently 23 COVID-19 patients in the hospital, 10 of which are in intensive care. Four of them come from Bonaire. The number of infections there has increased considerably, which means that patients must be brought to Curaçao.

In total, 24 corona patients in Curaçao have died since March 2020. There are currently strict corona measures on the island, such as the mandatory wearing of a mouth mask and social distancing. There is also a curfew from 9 PM to 4:30 AM.
