THE HAGUE - More than 2 years after the unanimous adoption of the Van Raak motion by the Second Chamber of the Dutch Parliament, it seems that it is being implemented. This can be deduced from the answer of Undersecretary of Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops to written questions from MPs Wuite and Van der Werf (both from the D66 party) about the reception in Aruba and Curaçao of Venezuelan immigrants/refugees.
In July 2019, the House requested by motion the governments of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands to further define the responsibilities of the countries individually and of the Kingdom as a whole in joint consultation.
Now Knops reports en passant that the countries have agreed to set up an official working group, "the start of which will be planned in the short term."
