WILLEMSTAD - It just will not work to get a verdict in the appeal of the Clean Air Everywhere foundation. The environmental group took legal action against the government for failing to set proper environmental standards for the refinery.
In First Instance, Clean Air Everywhere was proved right by the judge. It was prohibited to exceed the internationally existing WHO standards from September 1, 2020. But the Curaçao government appealed.
The Court would first deliver judgment on January 12, 2021, but that fell through. After that, the verdict was set on February 9 and then postponed to March 9.
Subsequently, a new ruling date came on April 6, but it was moved to May 4, to be finally set today on July 1.
