Court to decide on confiscation case against notary Kleinmoedig

Local | By Correspondent March 14, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - In approximately six weeks the court of justice will give a verdict in the confiscation case against civil-law notary Johnny Kleinmoedig. A postponement had been granted in November, but a new request to postpone the case again was refused.

The Public Prosecution Service wants to take almost one and a half million guilders that Johnny Kleinmoedig has embezzled. The notary was convicted on September 10 last year because as a notary he had taken money, intended for others, for personal use, including to acquire an expensive grand piano.

Kleinmoedis was jailed for eighteen months and removed from office for five years. He awaits his appeal in freedom, but he was not present at the hearing of the confiscation case on Friday.
