WILLEMSTAD - Parliament met this morning about the credentials of Yves Schoop. The chairman of the blue party takes the seat vacated by Elsa Rozendahl. She left the party last week and did not take her seat.
According to unconfirmed reports, Rozendal has resigned because she does not agree with the recently passed Emergency Act. There is also speculation that she will join the Democratic Party. Rozendal was previously a member of the PAIS party. Rozendal says he wants to look for a better way of serving the people.
The only item on the agenda during the parliamentary meeting is the debate on Schoop's credentials. MFK has already hinted to agree with the credentials. The meeting is scheduled for 10 am.
Schoop is no stranger to being a Member of Parliament. He succeeded Giselle Mc William when she became Minister of Economic Development. That ministry lasted about a year. Mc William succeeded Steven Martina who took a step back after an investigation into his decision-making by the Public Prosecution Service (OM).
After the OM decided not to prosecute any further, Martina became a minister again and Mc William returned to parliament. Schoop then returned to his general practice.
