WILLEMSTAD - Crefona has placed an order for a new cremation oven as the demand for cremation services continues to grow on Curaçao. The third oven is expected to arrive on the island soon to help meet the increasing number of requests for cremation services.
To install the oven, an expansion of the existing facility is required. Crefona applied for a building permit over a year ago, which was recently approved, although the process took longer than anticipated.
Despite this, Crefona will need to suspend its services for a week due to a series of challenges. These include scheduled maintenance, which is crucial for ensuring optimal performance and safety. Heavy rainfall also delayed maintenance work, causing leaks and damage to the facilities.
Additionally, disruptions in the supply chain caused by Hurricane Milton, which hit Florida, have delayed the delivery of essential parts needed for the oven repairs.
