WILLEMSTAD - A crew member of a tanker from Spain was taken off board on Sunday morning after losing consciousness. Rescue organization Citro sailed to the tanker at the request of the Coast Guard.
It was on its way to Cartagena in Colombia. A shipping agent in Curaçao alerted the Coast Guard's RCC coordination center.
The RCC put the shipping agent in contact with a local doctor. The captain of the ship said it was a 42-year-old Pakistani who had an accident with his hand a month ago, but was now unable to walk.
On the quay of Anna Bay, a doctor with an ambulance was ready to transport the patient to the CMC. The Tanker “Nada” has sailed further towards Colombia.
