WILLEMSTAD - There is strong criticism from the medical sector about the government's policy regarding the COVID-19 crisis.
The criticism is directed towards epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth. According to several medical professionals, Dr. Gerstenbluth does not consult with the rest of the island's doctors and other specialists.
Criticism is that the policy is determined by only one doctor. According to the specialists, the four weeks of quarantine were justified, but no logical reason was given for extending the lockdown.
The doctor says that we need to be prepared, but according to the specialists how much more do we need to prepare ourselves. “We have been preparing since 4 weeks ago when the lockdown could have been justified.”
“Dr. Gerstenbluth also does not present a clear plan on what the government will do during these two weeks and what will happen after May 11.”
