Cruise ship refused in the Caribbean due to corona fear; Curaçao on alert

Local | By Correspondent February 26, 2020

MIAMI - A cruise ship with 4,500 passengers and 1,600 crew members aboard was feared of the corona virus when it wanted to dock in Jamaica.

Then it set course for the Cayman Islands. But the ship was also not allowed to moor there. Where the MSC Meraviglia of shipping company MSC Cruises is going now is not clear.

This morning the Curaçao epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth was also called to inspect a few passengers on a Princess Cruise ship that is currently docked in Willemstad. The doctor indicated that first they feared that there were passengers on the ship with the virus but after some testing it became clear that it was not the case.

The entire Caribbean is now on alert with these cruise ships to prevent the spreading of this virus on the islands.
