Curaçao 88 million budget surplus

Local | By Correspondent September 1, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao has realized a financial surplus of 88 million guilders in the first six months of this year. A deficit of 74 million is still assumed for the whole of 2022.

The positive figures for the first two quarters are largely attributable to higher revenues from sales, profit and property taxes. A total of 813 million was booked, more than the 770 million over the same period in the pre-corona year 2019.

Nevertheless, the Financial Supervision Board (CFT) is concerned about financial management, such as the lack of insight into financial risks that the country runs, according to a letter from the CFT.
