Local | By Press release December 19, 2023

SÃO PAULO - For the third consecutive year, Curaçao has qualified for the Beach Tennis World Cup 2023, a flagship tournament of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

This ITF tournament brings countries together to compete for the coveted title of Beach Tennis world champion. Last week, the sports event took place in São Paulo, Brazil, featuring the participation of major countries such as Italy, Brazil, France, and the United States.

In the group stage, Team Curaçao, consisting of Janice Tjon Sien Kie, Dénie Wolf, Nick van Rosberg, and Michiel Noordhoek, faced Germany, Japan, and the reigning champion: Italy. Despite strong opposition from all professional national teams, the Curaçao team managed to win the men's doubles against Japan.

After the group stage, Curaçao competed against Portugal, the United States, and Latvia. Thanks to an impressive victory over Latvia, Curaçao, the smallest country among all participating nations, achieved the 15th place for the first time. This participation was made possible by the sponsorship of Curaçao International Airport, HBN Law & Tax, E-Management, EY, AFS, EM Group, Shark Beach Tennis, and TDeportes.
