Curaçao businessman held in Dominican Republic

WILLEMSTAD - At Santo Domingo Airport in the Dominican Republic, businessman Miles Maynard was held by the authorities this week when he wanted to fly back to Curaçao on a private plane.

Maynard's son has confirmed this. Maynard owns Miles Trucking & Heavy Equipment Services in Curaçao. He was in the Dominican Republic to pick up a passenger.

According to various media, this passenger is on the list of suspected persons against whom an arrest warrant has been issued. It is not known what the man is being sought for. According to Dominican media, drug offenses are involved.

The Curaçao businessman was not arrested at first, but eventually had to come along. "They claimed he is complicit in drug trafficking," Maynard's son indicated.
