Curaçao can only import for two months

Local | By Correspondent June 20, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao has a problem with its foreign exchange reserves. This pays for the import of goods. The norm is that there is enough foreign currency to be able to pay for imports for three months.

Curaçao has now fallen due to this lower limit and there are only euros and dollars in the bank for two months.

According to the Financial Supervision Council, the problem can only be resolved by no longer raising government deficits.
