Curaçao could temporarily operate the refinery

Local | By Correspondent May 8, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - If no strategic partner is found for the Isla refinery, Curaçao can also take over the refining. At least temporarily, says Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath.

But according to the prime minister, there is serious interest in a takeover. Next week a party will have a technical audit carried out in order to be able to make an offer.

A restart of the refinery after December 31 this year requires an investment of 2 to 3 billion dollars. An amount that Curaçao does not have.
