Local | By Correspondent December 5, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao will face Germany, Ivory Coast and Ecuador in next year’s FIFA World Cup. The draw, held Friday in Washington, determined the group-stage matchups for what will be the island’s first-ever appearance at a World Cup finals.

Curaçao was placed in Pot 4, meaning it was guaranteed to be matched with at least one top-tier nation or one of the three host countries. Germany emerged as the Pot 1 opponent, with Ecuador drawn from Pot 2 and Ivory Coast from Pot 3. The matches will be played in Group E.

It is not yet known where and when Curaçao’s group-stage games will take place. FIFA will release the full match schedule—including host cities and kickoff times—on Saturday.

The World Cup kicks off on June 11 and runs through July 19. The 2026 edition will be the first tournament featuring an expanded field of 48 teams.
