Curaçao futsal team participates in South American Youth Games

WILLEMSTAD - This year, the Curaçao futsal team U17 will participate in the Rosario 2022, the South American Youth Games of 2022 in Argentina.

The Curaçao team lost 0-5 to Paraguay on Thursday. On Tuesday they won against Colombia 3-2. According to the team, the Curaçao goalkeeper Quintin Sluis was the most valuable player in the game against Colombia. The match was played in the indoor club provincial stadium.

The Rosario 2022 is an international multi-sport event to be held in Argentina from April 28 to May 8. The futsal matches take place from 4 to 8 May, the futsal players were born between 2004 and 2007. At the Youth Games, a total of 15 Curaçao athletes participate in 3 of the 26 sports disciplines.

The boys of the futsal team also visited the 69-meter-tall mural of Lionel Messi in Rosario. They got a tour of the city, learned about the history and their great idol and ended up at the mural.

 

Futsal is played in a sports hall and with a flop ball. It is played five against five. The field of futsal is smaller than in field football and because futsal is played with a smaller number of players, the number of ball contacts is much higher than in field football.
