Curaçao Government Releases Overview of Road and Neighborhood Projects Planned for 2026

Local | By Correspondent December 23, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao government has released an overview of roads and residential areas that are scheduled for maintenance and infrastructure works next year. The plan includes dozens of projects involving road repairs, resurfacing, traffic-calming measures, and foundation works across the island.

Documents from the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning show that so-called “life extension” works are planned on several major and secondary roads. These include maintenance on the Carawaraweg, Kaminda Broerdam in Brakapoti, Kaya C.H. Winkel, Kaya Seru Grandi, Caracasbaaiweg, Kaminda Willems Cratz, and sections of the road toward Westpunt and Boka Tabla. Reconstruction work on the Santa Rosaweg is also included in the planning.

In addition to major roads, the government plans to introduce traffic-calming measures in various residential areas. Speed bumps are scheduled for streets in neighborhoods such as Seru Lora, Schonegevelstraat, Macario Prudencia, Akebio, Tamanacostraat, Noord Sapate, and Scherpenheuvel. Asphalt works are also planned in the Gatu area, to be carried out in two phases.

The overview further lists a series of foundation and drainage projects in residential neighborhoods. These works are planned in areas including Rancho, Steenenkoraal, Moncheweg, Sami Liber, Mahuma, Florida, Costa Ricaweg, Bottelier, Dein, and Fátimaweg, as well as along Kaya Zeus and Kaminda Hose Antonio. Other neighborhoods mentioned include Buena Vista, Wishi, Kanga, Seri Fortuna, Jan Dorat, Paradera, Santa Catharina, Quinta Villa, Hòfi Còw, and Barberbouquet.

The ministry submitted the list to Parliament on December 17 as part of preparations for the public debates on the 2026 national budget. While the overview provides insight into where residents can expect works and possible traffic disruptions over the next two years, it does not yet include specific start dates for each project.
