WILLEMSTAD - On Sunday, May 22, Curaçao will host the global event 'The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2022', which focuses on men's health. During the event a 'tour trip' on motorcycles will take place.
The organization Movember is active worldwide in raising funds for scientific research in the field of 'men's health'. These include prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health. The emphasis during the event is on talking openly about health, so that men can take the step to seek help more quickly.
One of the ways in which fundraising is done during the event is by organizing a 'tour ride' on nice and neatly polished bikes. The motorcyclists must arrive neatly according to a dress code. Taking care of yourself and going through life neatly symbolizes the 'Distinguished Gentleman'.
The motorcyclists will make five stops throughout the island during the trip. During the stops, they receive information about health in various places. For example, they stop at various medical centers and psychologists, various experts will have their say here. The stops are also free to the public.
The tour on the motorcycles starts May 22 at 3 pm from Fundashon Prevenshon at the Molenplein in Otrobanda and ends after five stops around 7 pm at Princess Wilhelmina Fund in Scharloo. Registration to participate on the bike is mandatory and goes through the website www.gentlemansride.com. There is a maximum number of participants. There are strict rules regarding dress code and motorcycles.
