Curaçao International Airport resumes normal operations, warns of temporary crowding due to recovery flights

Local | By Correspondent January 6, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao International Airport has announced that airport operations have returned to their regular schedule as of Sunday, but warns that passenger volumes may be higher than usual at certain times this week. The increased traffic is the result of recovery flights being operated for travelers whose flights were canceled on Saturday, January 3.

The airport stressed that normal operations have been fully resumed, while airlines are simultaneously carrying out additional flights to accommodate stranded passengers. Travelers are strongly advised to check their flight status in advance and to come to the airport only if they have a confirmed booking.

Passengers affected by earlier cancellations or those who do not yet have a confirmed flight are urged to contact their airline directly before traveling to the airport.

According to Curaçao International Airport, close coordination is taking place with airline partners and relevant authorities to ensure that passenger flows remain safe and efficient. The airport has asked travelers for patience and understanding during periods of increased activity as the backlog of canceled flights is cleared in the coming days.
