WILLEMSTAD - 608 senior civil servants have received a proposal from Minister Armin Konket (Administration, Planning and Services) to resign voluntarily in exchange for a severance payment.
This concerns civil servants between 59 and 62 years old. They are eligible for a one-off payment of between 45,000 and 60,000 guilders. The government spends a quarter of its budget annually on civil servant salaries. Nobody wants to leave because of the attractive working conditions and the civil service is aging.
The departure scheme is not only a cutback measure but is also intended to rejuvenate the civil service.
