Curaçao plastic ban before the end of 2022

Local | By Correspondent June 21, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The ban on disposable plastic must be introduced in Curaçao before the end of this year. That is according to Member of Parliament Giselle Mc William of the MAN party says in conversation with clean-up activist the Kunukuman.

Mc William is the initiator of the law prohibiting the use of all kinds of packaging material. This concerns, for example, plastic bags, plastic straws and foam trays. This law is now almost ready and will soon be presented to the government and parliament for approval. Mc William expects the law to pass without any problems and to enter into force by the end of 2022.

The Kunukuman has been committed to cleaning the island for two years with weekly cleanup actions.
