Curaçao Professional Baseball League Confirms 2026 Season With New High-Intensity Format

Local | By Correspondent January 15, 2026

WILLEMSTAD — Curaçao’s thriving professional baseball scene has taken another big step forward with the official confirmation of the 2026 season of the Curaçao Professional Baseball League (CPB), marking another chapter in the island’s growing role in Caribbean and international baseball.

Following key adjustments to both competition format and schedule, the CPB 2026 season is set to take place from January 14 through January 24, 2026, offering a shorter yet high-intensity experience of professional baseball right here in Curaçao.

As in previous seasons, all games will be hosted at the historic Tio Daou Ballpark in Willemstad, bringing together the island’s best baseball talent and drawing fans from across the region.

Three Teams, One Goal

The 2026 CPB season will feature the league’s three established teams: the Willemstad Cannons, Curaçao Goats, and Curaçao Suns. These clubs have quickly become mainstays of professional baseball on the island since the league’s inception in 2023.

Each team will select its roster through the league draft earlier in January, with the draft scheduled for January 5, 2026 — a crucial step in shaping the competitive balance for the upcoming season.

Road to Serie de las Américas

The stakes this year are high: the champion of CPB 2026 will earn the honor of representing Curaçao in the 2026 Serie de las Américas, an international tournament featuring top professional clubs from across Latin America.

Unlike the Caribbean Series, which traditionally involved winter league champions, the Serie de las Américas brings together winners from professional circuits including Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Nicaragua, and Curaçao. The 2026 edition is scheduled to take place in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela from February 1 to 7, 2026.

Growing Local Baseball Culture

Since its inaugural season, the CPB has rapidly become a focal point for elite baseball on Curaçao. The 2025 season saw intense rivalries and memorable performances, and the league is building both local and international interest year after year.

Fans and players alike are looking forward to the 2026 season, which promises to deliver fast-paced action and a showcase for baseball talent that reflects Curaçao’s deep connection to the sport.

More details on registration, draft procedures, and the official game schedule will be released in the coming weeks as excitement builds leading up to opening day.
