WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Justice Quincy Girigorie confirms that police officers are paid extra because of the current crisis. A kind of corona crisis bonus.
According to the minister, this was once agreed with the unions, which he says he cannot avoid. The bonus can reach up to 50 guilders per hour, insiders say. This is in addition to the overtime payments that many officers receive for their work during the night hours.
The officers have not issued many fines yet. Of the 2,000 people who were not supposed to be on the street in recent days, only 100 were issued a fine.
