Curaçao Statistics Office Launches Public Opinion Survey on Venezuela Geopolitical Situation

Local | By Correspondent January 19, 2026

WILLEMSTAD — The Central Bureau for Statistics Curaçao (CBS) is conducting a survey to gather public opinion on the geopolitical situation in Venezuela and how residents of Curaçao perceive recent regional developments, including how well informed and prepared they feel.

According to the CBS, the survey is intended as an initial exploratory step toward possible broader research, and respondents are reminded that the results should not be considered scientific.

The questionnaire consists of 11 questions that ask participants to rate their level of concern about the situation in Venezuela, how closely they follow related news, and the extent to which the evolving geopolitical climate affects life on the island.

Participation in the survey is completely anonymous, and officials stress that the goal is to better understand public sentiment as events in nearby Venezuela continue to capture attention and raise questions about regional security and stability — issues that have been felt in Curaçao for several months given its proximity and economic and social ties to its neighbor.

The CBS regularly conducts surveys on topics of local relevance and aims to make the results available to inform public policy and community awareness.
