WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao has been subsidizing the Dutch passport for years. 1.2 million guilders per year must be added because previous cabinets refused to raise the rate.
The rates for the passports are determined by the Netherlands and did increase annually. Since 1992 the price for a passport has been 100 guilders, while 213 guilders can be charged. The price will soon go up, to 200 guilders per passport for adults.
Passports for 0 to 17-year-old remain 100 guilders.
