Curaçao Tax Department is scrutinizing online tax returns

Local | By Correspondent November 30, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Tax and Customs Administration of Curaçao wants to improve its service provision, among other things by making the online tax return forms more user-friendly.

The current forms are still too complex for certain groups, which means that the same input errors are regularly made, which entails unnecessary delays.

Priority is given to automatically copying a number of profit tax return data from 2020 into the 2021 returns. This is a relatively simple adjustment and saves taxpayers a lot of work when copying this data.

This adjustment is currently in the testing phase. Now that the 2021 income tax assessments have largely been imposed, these assessments are also being scrutinized.

An inventory is being made of which quick wins can be built into the income tax return form to prevent problems with the processing of returns with incorrect and/or incomplete data. This is in anticipation of an integral analysis of the tax return form.
