WILLEMSTAD - The government wants to start a stray dog shelter as soon as possible. This is evident from the agreement that was concluded on Monday about the care of stray dogs.
Minister Zita Jesus-Leito, Domain Management and the Curaçao Animal Protection Foundation have signed this agreement. The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and the Ministry of Economic Development will finance the project.
Stray dogs with poor health also give tourists a bad impression of the island.
The shelter must provide care and also sterilization of dogs, after which an owner can be found for the animals.
