Curaçao to Face Scotland in Final Warm-Up Match Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Local | By Correspondent January 19, 2026

WILLEMSTAD — Curaçao will play its final match ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Scotland national football team. The friendly is scheduled for the end of May and will be played at the iconic Hampden Park in Glasgow, according to an announcement by the Federashon Futbòl Kòrsou on social media.

National team head coach Dick Advocaat previously told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that Curaçao lacks suitable training facilities for final World Cup preparations. As a result, the decision was made to complete the team’s preparations in Scotland. Advocaat described the situation as “unfortunate for the people of Curaçao,” but said there were no realistic alternatives under the circumstances.

Following the friendly against Scotland, Curaçao faces a demanding start to its World Cup campaign. The team, known as The Blue Wave, will open the tournament on June 14 against Germany national football team. Group matches against Ecuador national football team and Ivory Coast national football team will follow.

The match against Scotland is expected to serve as a crucial final test as Curaçao fine-tunes its tactics and squad ahead of its World Cup debut.
