Curaçao will also get a covid app

WILLEMSTAD - The outgoing cabinet Rhuggenaath is busy preparing for the launch of a covid application. With this, users can, for example, check in for an event or specific location.

This was announced recently by communications director Maharo Isenia at the press conference on the National Dialogue on COVID-19.

With the application on the phone users can prove that they have been vaccinated or that they have recently tested negative for COVID-19. This makes it easier to check that users are COVID-free at the entrance of, for example, a party or an organization.

Business owners also receive a sticker that they can put on the door of their company and that must make it clear that the company complies with the standards of the corona measures. The application can then be checked for COVID and how many people are in a certain place. Furthermore, the government can use this to check whether an organization complies with the permit.

Various stakeholders have indicated that they are interested in the application. Everyone is free to use the app or not. But at companies that do not use the app, additional corona measures will be implemented.

With the app, the privacy of the citizen is guaranteed, Isenia emphasized, and there will be complete openness about the data extracted from the app. No data is sent to the government, according to the communications director.
