WILLEMSTAD, ROERMOND – Dutch football club Roda JC has secured its first reinforcement for the upcoming season with the signing of Curaçaoan striker Anthony van den Hurk. The 28-year-old forward joins the Eerste Divisie side on a free transfer from Helmond Sport, signing a one-year contract with an option for an additional season.
Van den Hurk is a regular member of the Curaçao national team and comes off a productive stint at Helmond Sport, where he scored 15 goals in 34 appearances last season. Over the past two seasons, he has proven himself as a reliable goal scorer and key player.
His career includes spells at several Dutch clubs, including FC Eindhoven, FC Den Bosch, De Graafschap, and MVV, before taking his talents abroad to Sweden, Poland, and Turkey. He returned to the Netherlands in 2023 to play for Helmond Sport.
Van den Hurk also spent many years in the youth academy of PSV Eindhoven, one of the country’s top clubs. Although he was previously on Roda JC’s radar, a transfer did not materialize at that time.
With this signing, Roda JC aims to strengthen their attacking options as they prepare for the new campaign, hoping Van den Hurk’s experience and scoring ability will make a significant impact.
