WILLEMSTAD - The Caribbean Coast Guard says that two Curaçaoans were also arrested during the earlier arrest of eight people last Tuesday. Together with the six Venezuelan suspects, they wanted to enter Curaçao illegally, while smuggling drugs.
Three boats have been intercepted, two of them are international and one local. All available information indicates that the Curaçaoans were on the local boat.
On Wednesday, the Coast Guard had to return to where they intercepted the boats to collect bales of drugs. They were working on that until Wednesday evening.
An investigation is currently underway into what exactly happened, what kind of drugs were smuggled and how much. All drugs have been handed over to the Curaçao Police Force.
Looking at the many bales, it can be concluded that it concerns a large amount of drugs. At the moment, apart from speculation, no further information is available.
