WILLEMSTAD - The economic contraction that has been holding Curacao in its grip for several years now seems to have ended.
At least, the Central Bank takes into account a sharp fall in that contraction to 0.1 percent in the minus. However, that forecast depends on the refinery and the crisis in Venezuela.
The Curaçao economy has been in a recession since 2017. In that year there was a shrinkage of 1.7%, which increased to 2.2% in 2018.
