The new curfew on Curacao applies from April 2.
WILLEMSTAD - The government of Curaçao announced yesterday that the curfew will now start earlier. It was at nine o'clock in the evening but will start now at seven o'clock. The measure will take effect on April 2. Curfew ends at 4:30 in the morning.
The reason is the enormous number of infections that reached a record high yesterday. 506 people were infected in one day. Due to the development of the British variant, the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) is now full and almost all IC beds are occupied. Extra beds are available, but there is not enough staff to staff them.
Due to the earlier curfew, restaurants also must stop their take-away earlier. The doors must be closed at 6 p.m. Trucki'pans or BBQ stands can open at 2 p.m. for take-out and delivery. But at six o'clock they must close.
The government also announces that it will review the number of exemptions. 30,000 applications have been submitted.
