WILLEMSTAD - The Coast Guard has a new commander on the Jaguar, Edelmir Stokkel. He is the first Curaçaoan to sail on a cutter as commander.
Stokkel takes over from Thomas van Roosmalen. The new commander started his career with the Coast Guard after he was transferred from the Antillean militia.
The Jaguar was the last cutter with a Dutch commander. Aruban commanders sail on the other two coastguard cutters.
