WILLEMSTAD - The cyber team of the Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN) has recently become a member of the international organization No More Ransom. The organization provides support in unlocking files and information encrypted by hackers.
The investigation department of the KPCN regularly has to deal with cyber criminals who digitally attack both individuals and companies and cause damage to computer systems. Several companies and organizations have recently become victims of ransomware cyber attacks. Hackers then demand money from the victims to unlock the system and remove the virus.
No More Ransom was launched by Europol, the Dutch Police and IT security companies. The organization offers 163 free tools for 165 ransomware variants. Millions of people would have been helped to decrypt their devices thanks to No More Ransom without having to pay the criminals.
The portal is available in 37 languages and will soon be available in Papiamento. More than 188 partners from the public and private sectors have joined the organization.
