WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the opposition party Pueblo Soberano, Jaime Cordoba indicated to Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath that the deadline for a claim against oil giant SHELL is in sight.
Until September 7, the claim can be submitted for environmental damage left by the company in 1985. After this date, the claim is time-barred.
Every five years, a so-called interruption letter must be sent to SHELL in order to still be allowed to submit the claim. Cordoba did this himself in 2015.
