WILLEMSTAD - December 31 is the latest date for Klesch to take over the Curaçao refinery and Bullen Bay. This is according to Marcelino de Lannoy of the Refineria di Korsou (RdK). According to RdK's director, there were 2 options: late June or late December.
Now that it will not be reached at the end of June, it is hoped that Klesch will sign for the end of December. This must be clarified quickly, otherwise, RdK will talk to other interested parties.
In the meantime, a lot of work is being done to develop the sites around the refinery. The Horizon Nobo project must create work and opportunities for the economy. The hope is that refinery workers who lose their jobs will eventually be able to work there.
