WILLEMSTAD - The turmoil in Curaçao of the past few days was reason for the entire government to give a press conference. Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath and finance minister Kenneth Gijsbertha were not present due to their official visit in Aruba for consultation.
The employees of the waste management company Selikor laid down their work and blocked the roads around Parera, teachers from some public schools are on strike because the government does not want to clean their schools, the police were dissatisfied, the hospital’s technical staff also took action and employees from Brasami and Kas di Kultura laid down their work.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Steven Martina, the actions were all unnecessary, if there was better communication. Martina denies that the strikes caused the release of funds.
The Deputy Prime Minister admits that the blocking of roads during a strike is punishable and there will be more action in the future.
